Marvel Launches New Indiana Jones Comic Series With Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder
Marvel Comics has announced a new era for Indiana Jones, revealing Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium, a five-issue limited series from acclaimed writer Jason Aaron and artist Aaron Kuder. The announcement was made during the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel Outgoing Editor-in-Chief and Editor, Asia Original C.B. Cebulski unveiled the surprise project.
Launching on December 9, the series marks Indiana Jones' return to Marvel Comics and kicks off an all-new line of adventures set during the timeline of the original films.
Set in the aftermath of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, the story follows Indy as some of his most dangerous enemies—including the shocking return of a longtime archenemy—search for a terrifying new source of power after their defeat. That power has fallen into the hands of Marion Ravenwood, forcing Indiana Jones into a globe-spanning race to recover a biblical weapon. Along the way, he'll face deadly new threats while putting both his archaeological expertise and skepticism of the supernatural to the ultimate test.
“I’ve wanted to adventure alongside Indiana Jones since I was 8 years old, to climb through ancient crypts and run for my life in exotic locales, to seek the world’s most fabled treasures. Now, here I am, feeling the same sort of joy I felt in 2015 when we launched STAR WARS #1,” Aaron shared. “This is the Indy of Raiders of the Lost Ark, fresh off his harrowing experience on the island of Geheimhaven. Dark events were set in motion that day, strange new enemies have risen from the shadows, and for Indy and Marion Ravenwood the globe-trotting, punching, whip-cracking, and death-defying escapades, not to mention the archaeology, have just begun.”
Kuder also shared his excitement about joining the project, saying, “I’m very excited to be on this book with Jason Aaron. Indie has always felt like he should be a staple of a comic book character.”
