Queen in Black Escalates as Marvel Reveals Explosive August Tie-Ins and First Look at Issue #3
Marvel has unveiled the cover for Queen in Black #3 by Al Ewing and Iban Coello, alongside a slate of major August tie-in comics tied to the publisher’s upcoming symbiote epic.
Following a preview released during Comics Giveaway Day, Queen in Black launches in July as a five-issue crossover event spinning out of Ewing and Carlos Gómez’s current Venom run and the upcoming Knull limited series by Ewing, Tom Waltz, and Juanan Ramírez.
The story centers on a galaxy-shaking war between Hela and Knull. After overthrowing Knull and claiming control of his symbiote empire, Hela reigns as the new Queen in Black. But Knull has returned stronger than ever after conquering the Lightforce Dimension, setting the stage for a devastating battle with Earth caught in the middle.
August’s tie-ins expand the conflict across multiple fronts, including Queen in Black: Defenders of Light and Dark, which follows strike teams led by Iron Man and Beta Ray Bill; Queen in Black: Thor #1 and Queen in Black: Hela, which explore the Asgardian side of the war; and Queen in Black: Venom Unchained starring Eddie Brock as he races to join the fight.
Meanwhile, Venom #261 promises the return of one of Venom’s oldest enemies, forcing an uneasy alliance with Reed Richards to save the world.
Highlights from the August lineup include:
- Queen in Black #3 — Dylan Brock becomes the key to the war as Venom and Eddie Brock attempt an uneasy truce.
- Defenders of Light and Dark #2 — internal conflict threatens both strike teams as the battle intensifies.
- Venom Unchained #2 — Eddie Brock escapes prison with Sleeper’s help, only to find Earth under siege.
- Thor #1 — Beta Ray Bill and Thor face Hela’s growing power in a pivotal Asgardian chapter.
- Venom #261 — a classic symbiote threat resurfaces with global consequences.
The Queen in Black crossover begins this July, with multiple chapters arriving throughout August.
